Delta Air Lines has suspended its VIP services for members of Congress, citing operational strain caused by the partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The airline said the decision was necessary as long wait times and reduced screening capacity have made priority access unsustainable. VIP services previously allowed select passengers, including lawmakers, to bypass standard security lines.

At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, passengers have reported waiting up to 125 minutes to pass through security checkpoints. Meanwhile, George Bush Intercontinental Airport has seen delays exceeding two and a half hours, with some travelers experiencing total wait times of up to four hours. These disruptions have significantly impacted travel plans and overall passenger experience.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has warned that the situation could worsen if the DHS shutdown continues. Reduced personnel levels have slowed screening operations, particularly in high-traffic hubs like Atlanta and Houston.
