Texas solidified its position in 2025 as the leading state for job creation in the United States, recording the highest number of new nonfarm jobs nationwide, according to the latest labor market estimates. Governor Greg Abbott welcomed the results, saying they underscore the strength of the Texas economy and its business-friendly environment.
“Texas is the jobs leader in America because it is where free enterprise thrives and hard work is rewarded,” Abbott said. He added that the state continues to lead in business relocations and expansions, as companies of all sizes invest confidently in Texas and its young, skilled, and growing workforce.
Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that Texas added 132,500 jobs between December 2024 and December 2025, more than any other state and half a percentage point above the national annual job growth rate.
The figures also reveal record highs in employment, with the Texas labor force reaching 15.964 million people and total employment, including self-employed workers, climbing to 15.283 million.
